I've now read and enjoyed all six books in the exciting "Tylers of Texas" series. Texas Free--the fifth book in the series--is actually Book 2 chronologically. The story begins in 1985, when Bull Tyler is only thirty-four and his two sons--Will and Beau--are young boys. The boys eventually grow up and have books of their own (Texas Tall and Texas True). Texas Free is the compelling story of feisty Rose Landro.I first met Rose in Texas Fierce, when--at age 14--she killed a neighboring rancher in self-defense after he murdered her grandfather. With Bull Tyler's help, she fled to Mexico, where she was taken in by a kind couple in the small town of Rio Seco. When this story begins twelve years later, the town has been taken over by the Cabreras--a vicious drug cartel--who've killed anyone who opposed them, including Rose's foster parents. This is a story about a strong woman and how she dealt with strong men. I would think about the book when doing other things. It stays with you.
